The Greatest Showman
When someone declares that he hates musicals it is quite probable that he thinks about such shallow and theatrical pieces as 'The Greatest Showman'. Unfortunately, despite of starring Hugh Jackman in the leading role, this film can't surpass the level of an idle, pompous spectacle show. .
The film wanted to give us an insight into the life of P.T. Barnum who became world-wide known with his spectacular freak show. But those who want to get a real biopic will be disappointed because the whole story wears a Hollywood costume and the makers didn't really care for telling a true story, it seems that they just wanted to create a colorful musical full of modern pop hits. Well the tunes are surely catchy but you can't really tell them apart from all the current pop songs you hear on the radio and the choreography is quite forgettable if we don't count one trapeze scene with the Efron - Zendaya duo. The film rattles on swiftly like a train but it doesn't leave any poignant memories in the viewers.
