Our Melting Future

The fragile situation of the polar regions.
Budapest, Magyar Természettudományi Múzeum, 21 April 2018 - 02 July 2018
Connected to this year's Earth Day, an intriguing and thought-provoking exhibition opens in the Hungarian Natural History Museum. It gives us an insight into the work of two dedicated nature photographers, Tibor Kércz and Csaba Komáromi.
The two photographers have traveled the polar regions and they made thousands of pictures to capture the fragile beauty they found there. The collection transports us to a rarely seen land of special importance, presenting us more than 50 photos to demonstrate how important it is to protect this unique landscape from climate change. The rapid rise of the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the main reason for the accelerating melt of sea ice, but the melting ice itself is causing the release of another greenhouse gas, methane, that could be even more damaging. This way, what happens now at the polar regions can have an affect on the whole planet.
