The Death of Stalin
The mighty Stalin, feared and revered by everyone, is listening to a radio concert in his study. He laughs, and then suddenly he suffers an apoplectic stroke. Well that's the end for him, but for the realm and his followers the adventure has just begun...
Besides the well-known Soviet leaders Beria, Khrushchev, Molotov and Malenkov  (all thirsty for power), the children of Stalin and marshal Zhukov also enter the game. The deportees, the convicts and the common people are just trying to keep in step with the events, and it's hard to figure out what the future holds for them. Armando Iannucci, the creator of TV-series 'Veep', and the director of political satire 'In the Loop', has made an excellent film based on the atmosphere of French comedies and Monty Python films. In consideration of the subject it's not that typical comedy that makes you laugh out loud, but it's witty, refreshing and brilliant, in fact quite suitable for pulling down a dictatorship. No wonder they have banned it in Russia after officials claimed that the film was offensive.
