Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
A controversial message is painted on three billboards, directed at William Willoughby, the town's revered chief of police. The unorthodox signs are causing quite a stir among the habitants of Ebbing, Missouri. The darkly comic drama of Martin McDonagh was the biggest hit at the Golden Globes.
The maker of these signs is Mildred, the mother of a recently murdered girl, who can't live with the thought that the culprit is still outside, unpunished. Willoughby is not too happy with the events either, but he has his own problems as he is suffering from uncurable cancer. And to top it all, there is racist policeman Dixon, who regards the act of Mildred as an attack on his own person. A serious war threatens all the participants of this quirky situation.

Writer and director Martin McDonagh (known for 'In Bruges') is never predictable, and the story is full of surprises. The character development is excellently depicted and very realistic. The audience can laugh, cry, and also be frightened or astonished while seeing this very unusual film.
