The quiet life of a fishing boat captain (Matthew McConaughey) is shattered when his ex-wife (Anne Hathaway) finds him and begs desperately for his help in a shady business involving the two of them plus their young son and the woman's new husband.
Even The Guardian hailed it as "this year's first gloriously bad movie", so it's better not to have high expectations in spite of the excellent actors in the leading roles. 'Serenity' is like an ill-conceived film noir parody, though it aspires to be a witty thriller of many twists and turns. Karen (Anne Hathaway) tracks down her former husband Dill and begs him to save her - and their son - from her new, violent husband (Jason Clarke). The protagonists struggle between right and wrong in a film which sadly lacks real zest and credibility.
