Mary Queen of Scots
History is not exclusively written by men. After the death of François II, King of France, his widow Mary Stuart returns to Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Queen Elizabeth I is not overall happy with these plans, and feels more and more threatened by her determined cousin.
The turbulent life of Mary Stuart is an excellent material for cinematographers. When she was 16 years old she was already the Queen of France, and became a widow two years later. The spirited young woman refused to remarry. Instead, she returned to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But during that era Scotland and England were under the rule of Elizabeth I. Rivals in power and also in love, and what's more, female regents in a masculine world, the two determined and independent young woman must decide how to play a dangerous game of intrigues, and battle for the throne which can belong only to the one of them.
