The story of Richard Bruce 'Dick' Cheney, a seemingly unassuming bureaucratic Washington insider, who quietly wielded immense power as Vice President to George W. Bush, reshaping the country and the globe in ways that we still feel today.
Probably you won't recognize the ever handsome Christian Bale in the leading role, and he is supported by such excellent fellow-actors as Steve Carell, Amy Adams and Sam Rockwell, so it is no wonder that the film is nominated for eight Oscars. We don't know everything about the real Dick Cheney, so the makers had to fill the gaps with their own creativity, but what we know for sure is that Cheney was responsible for attacking Irak and cruelly torturing suspicious prisoners in Guantanamo. In spite of the serious subject the film gets real satyrical sometimes but it manages to keep up the tension until the end.
