Cats

When something is charming as a collection of poems, or successful as a play on stage, that doesn't necessarily mean that it will be also enjoyable on the big screen.
Maybe even those who read 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' by T. S. Eliot and saw Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous musical (based on those poems) several times, I mean maybe even hardcore cat fans will see the absurdity of this uncanny adaptation. The spectacle of A-list stars licking their digital fur and acting like strange and unnatural felines is more painful than entertaining. The movie is practically plotless, and the popular songs of the musical (yes, 'Memory' also featuring the original soundtrack, being performed beautifully by Jennifer Hudson) are not enough to carry this cinematographic misunderstanding on their back. According to bbc.com, "If the cast were in front of you, live on stage, there would probably be enough energy in the room for it to qualify as a great night at the theatre. But cinema is a different medium." And a different medium requires different means, which 'Cats' fails to find and this way it can't really convey anything except disturbing visuals.
